Are You Ready To Cure Your Diabetes?

It is interesting to figure out what separates those who end up curing their own diabetes from those who fail to do so. I say interesting because if you are starting to fall into the latter category, you can turn that around!

I come in contact with lots of people who are trying to cure their own diabetes and I can see some very definite recurring trends. Here are some of my own personal observations on people who fail compared to those who succeed:

1. They don't REALLY believe it can be done.

The mantra of traditional medicine is that diabetes can't be cured naturally and can only be "controlled" through medication. Think about this too. There's lots of money to be made if this is true. With 35% - 50% of the population expected to have diabetes in the near future, pharmaceutical companies, medical supply companies, and medical professionals are poised to make A LOT of money - especially if there is no cure and diabetics are expected to just stay on costly medication/treatment for life. The media makes a lot of money from selling advertisements for diabetics too. On the other hand, there's virtually no money to be made if diabetes can be cured. Now, I can tell you from personal experience that type 2 diabetes can be cured completely (see my links on the side for proof). I also personally know many others who have cured their diabetes. However, you aren't going to find the cure by going to a traditional doctor.

2. They don't have ALL the information they need.

The cure for diabetes does NOT involve one single strategy. Yes, I can simply more than 50% of it in this way: completely eliminate artificial foods from your diet 100%. However, even here you need some details about how to do this. You need comprehensive information like this that is going to give you ALL the information you need. It is easy to improve the situation by just surfing around the web for information but to CURE your diabetes, you really do need a comprehensive guide.

3. They are looking for one easy magic bullet.

Most people are looking for one pill or one food or one exercise or .... etc, etc... that is going to cure their diabetes and honestly it isn't this simple -- believe me, I wish it was. There is no ONE thing that is going to cure your diabetes. It's not hard to do but it isn't as simple as doing ONE thing. Again, you need a comprehensive guide like this one that is going to give you all the different steps you need to follow.

To Cure Diabetes You Need To Heal Your Damaged Cell Membranes

Most type 2 diabetics have damaged cell membranes from years of eating artificial foods found in the industrial age food supply. In order to cure type 2 diabetes, you need to heal these damaged cell membranes.

One food that causes damage to your cell membranes is trans fat so you will need to eliminate this entirely from your diet. Please understand that trans fat is not something you should just "eat in moderation" like an occasional scoop of ice cream. Trans fat is a poison and it has no business being inside the human body, even in small quantities.

To eliminate trans fat from your diet, you should learn how to find the hidden trans fat in food labels. You should also be aware that canola oil contains trans fat.

One of the primary constituents of healthy cell membranes are omega-3 fats. In a chemistry lab, these omega-3 fats are known as being in the "cis" formation - with all hydrogen atoms positioned on the same side of the fat molecule. When the food industry "hydrogenates" the omega-3 fat in the cis formation, it is converted to a "trans" formation - where alternating hydrogen atoms lie on opposite sides. This change in structure makes the molecule behave very differently. It is also a structure that is not found in nature the human body is not designed to handle such a structure.

For the food industry, whose primary interest is making as much money as they possibly can regardless of the health consequences, converting omega-3 trans fat into trans fat means a much longer shelf life for all the products they put it in - and they put it in almost all their processed foods. Have you ever wondered why store bought cookies almost never go bad? What about store bought crackers? This is why.

For the food industry, converting cis fats to trans fat also means they can turn really cheap oils into solids at room temperature and sell them as crisco and margarine (and all the processed foods containing them) at much higher prices. They actually have the gall to promote this as being "healthier" than the real thing that nature produces.

For consumers who eat this artificial poison (trans fat), it means a much higher chance of developing type 2 diabetes and other diseases. When you eat trans fat, it replaces the omega-3 fat in your cell membranes which makes them more insulin resistant. This is because the trans fat essentially blocks insulin from transporting glucose inside your cells. Your membranes are like the door and insulin is like the doorman. When your cells are "insulin resistant," this means that when insulin tries to open the door to escort the glucose inside, the door is fixed to not open.

This is the type of very specific information you need if you want to cure your diabetes (there's actually much more to the trans fat issue than what I've outlined here). Please check out the this information that I link to at the top of the page. It is a comprehensive source of information that you need to cure diabetes and is basically the same way I personally cured my own diabetes - i.e. it is a life saver.

Optimal pH To Cure Diabetes: Acidic Body vs Alkaline Body

Diabetics have one thing in common with cancer patients: they tend to have a an overly acidic body. It is thought by many who understand that "food is medicine" that the root of all disease is an acidic body. Furthermore, those same people believe that to cure whatever ails you must get the pH of your body back in balance - you must achieve a slightly alkaline body of about 7.2.

Since lemons are one of the most alkalizing foods you can eat, you may want to read my article:

"Diabetic Diet: How Lemons and Lemon Water Can Help Cure Diabetes"

The link between the pH of the body and diseases like type 2 diabetes is not a new idea. In 1933, Dr. William Howard Hay stated,

"...we have allowed our alkalies to be dissipated by introduction of acid-forming food in too great amount... It may seem strange to say that all disease is the same thing, no matter what its myriad modes of expression, but it is verily so."

For decades this concept was largely lost but thankfully it has been resurrected by the alternative health community. Once again, we are beginning to understand how important it is to keep a healthy pH in our bodies.

We now know that most diseases thrive in an acidic body. Harmful bacteria, fungus, and parasites all do well if the body is acidic. In order to cure diabetes (and many of the complications of diabetes such as inflammation), you will need to work on changing the pH of your acidic body back to a more alkaline level.

High acidity causes insulin resistance! It is imperative that you get your body to the right pH if you want to reverse your diabetes.

The magical optimal pH seems to be 7.2 which is slightly alkaline.

Here are the ranges:

0 - 6.9 = acidic
7 = neutral
7.1 - 14 = alkaline

The acidity or alkalinity of the body is determined by measuring the pH of the body. You can get test strips from your local drugstore that you can dip into your urine and saliva and determine your pH. The pH scale ranges from 0 - 14 with a score of 7.0 being neutral. Lower than 7 and the pH is considered "acidic" and higher than 7 and the pH is "alkaline." Remember, your target pH is not neutral but slightly alkaline - or about 7.2.

A pH below 6.5 is considered really low (way too acidic). A pH below 6.0 is considered extremely too low (extremely and dangerously too acidic).

It is very important to note that the pH scale is NOT linear - it is logarithmic (like the Richter Scale used to measure the intensity of earthquakes). This means there is a difference of 10 times between a pH of 6 versus a pH of 7.

Take a look at this:

pH 6 vs pH 7 = 10 times different (pH 6 is 10 times more acidic than pH 7)
pH 5 vs pH 7 = 100 times different (pH 5 is 100 times more acidic than pH 7)
pH 4 vs pH 7 = 1000 times different (pH 4 is 1000 times more acidic than pH 7)

pH 7 vs pH 8 = 10 times different (pH 7 is 10 times more alkaline than pH 8)
pH 7 vs pH 9 = 100 times different (pH 7 is 100 times more alkaline than pH 9)
pH 7 vs pH 10 = 1000 times different (pH 7 is 1000 times more alkaline than pH 10)

A 0.1 difference in acidity is actually more significant than you may think.

Also note: the term "alkaline" (a pH greater than 7) is sometimes referred to as "basic."

This also means that one point on the pH scale is hugely significant! The difference between 7.2 (your target pH) and 6.2 (way too acidic) is 10 times! Remember, even a tenth of a point is quite significant. It also means that the human body, and all life for that matter, can only operate within a rather narrow range on the pH scale. Relatively small shifts within this narrow range for life can make the difference between a healthy person and one that has diabetes and/or other diseases.

Basically, I'm trying to stress that the pH of the body really matters if you're serious about reversing your diabetes!

The main way you can get your body to the right pH is to eat the right foods. Some foods will cause your body to become very acidic. Other foods will help your body to move more toward the alkaline side. You can't cut out all the acidic foods by the way because they have nutrients you need. However, there are certain foods that are SO acid producing, you really should avoid them. Plus, you need to learn how balance things out and keep your body slightly alkaline - it's not just what you eat but also the combinations that you eat and the quantities of each that you eat.

To learn more about how to use food to keep your body slightly alkaline and how to avoid a highly acidic body that will flat out prevent you from being able to cure your diabetes (no matter how much you exercise, lose weight, eat healthy foods, etc), I highly recommend the information you'll find here.

My Blood Sugar Experiement - I Really HAVE Cured My Diabetes!

I am really excited about the results of my recent blood sugar experiment and I want to share it with you. I think it is proof positive that I have cured my diabetes. Remember, when I was first diagnosed with diabetes, my readings were really high and I turned that around in only 5 months. (Update: if I knew then what I now know from this scientific research, I would have been able to reverse my diabetes in under a mont.h) I was on diabetes medication at first, even insulin in the hospital, but I am no longer take any diabetes medications and all of my HgA1C tests (a much better indicator than blood sugar overall) come back in the normal range.

One of the true tests of whether or not you've cured your diabetes is to determine if you can occasionally eat a big helping of carbs and not have your blood sugar spike too high. This is a strong indicator that you are not just "managing" your diabetes with a low carb diet but you have actually addressed the underlying cause of the diabetes - i.e. it is NOT just about eating fewer carbs.

Let me explain a bit more before I give you the results of my experiment. A non-diabetic person's blood sugar won't spike more than about 20 points (maybe as much as 25-30 points if they really go over-board) after a really high carb meal or snack because the body's hormonal system is well-tuned to deal with the sudden surge of carbs and it compensates for it. However, when a person who has diabetes eats a lot of carbs in one sitting, their blood sugar can spike 50 points, 100 points, or even more! This is because their illness - their diabetes - has damaged their cell membranes so much and thrown their hormonal system so far out of whack, it simply doesn't have the normal ability to compensate for the surge of extra carbs. In other words, their body does not function properly, and as a result, diabetics can not handle extra carbs without their blood sugar spiking way out of control.

Please note that I am NOT suggesting you should or could over-indulge in carbs all the time after you've cured your diabetes. If you continually do this, in fact, you could over time develop diabetic symptoms again (but probably still not as severe as you may have had before if you stay away from trans fat, high fructose corn syrup, and other artificial and unhealthy foods that cause diabetes) - it's NOT just about carbs I promise.

Okay, now that I have that important caveat out of the way, it is natural (even in the cave man days when they came across a good patch of wild grapes or found a good honey hole) for a human being to eat an occasional meal that contains an extra high count of carbs and a human body that is in good health is designed to handle this. If you have truly cured your diabetes - reversed it completely - you should be able to eat an occasional high carb meal or snack with no ill effects.

Another sign that your body is cured of the ill effects of diabetes is when your blood sugar returns to the state it was originally within 2 hours (approximately) after you eat the high carb meal or snack. In diabetics, their blood sugar often remains very elevated for many hours after eating lots of carbs. This elevated blood sugar is what causes all the complications diabetics usually experience like heart disease, kidney disease, and blindness, and why they are so desperate to lower their blood sugar. Sometimes after the dangerous rise in blood sugar it comes crashing down - a blood sugar roller coaster ride which is really hard on the body.

Last weekend, I put this to the test by treating myself to one of my very favorite high carb indulgences - an extra large helping of vanilla bean ice cream. For the purposes of this experiment, I even allowed myself to eat the whole pint! It was organic and contained no high fructose corn syrup as most ice creams now have (VERY BAD - stay away from this!!). Besides the dairy lactose, the main carb was organic cane sugar. The total carbs in the pint I ate (yes, I was a piggie) were a whopping 84 grams of carbs which I ate over about a 15-20 minute period.

I took my blood sugar before I ate the ice cream (it was mid afternoon about half way between lunch time and dinner time) and then again 15 minutes after I ate the ice cream and then again 2 hours after I ate the ice cream.  There were 3 readings in all.

My blood sugar was 112 before I ate the ice cream. More precisely, it was 112 mg/dl. 15 minutes after I ate the ice cream, it rose a little to 126 mg/dl. After 2 hours, it had come back down almost to the original reading and was at 116 mg/dl.

I am elated with these results and I think my experiment provides proof that I have actually CURED my diabetes, not just "managed" it through a low carb diet (I do eat a lower carb diet than I used to but not extremely low by any means) and other natural means - and remember I am no longer on any kind of prescription diabetes medication - in other words, my body handled the sugary carbs all by itself with no help of any medication!! It is such a good feeling to know that I have truly reversed my diabetes to the point I no longer have significant surges in blood sugar when I occasionally eat a big helping of sugary carbs. And... my blood sugar returns to normal 2 hours later. This is how a healthy person's body responds to a super load of carbs! Someone with diabetes could not handle those sudden 84 carbs without a significant surge in blood sugar (followed by a possible crash in blood glucose). So I am truly cured.

If I can cure my diabetes, so can you! Yippee Ti Yi Yea!!!
